President Salva Kiir Mayardit has promised accountability to the UN development agencies over claims that they splashed money in the country yet there is no development being seen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The President made the assurance yesterday while addressing diplomats, activists, and government officials during the signing ceremony of the United Nations Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework 2023-2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

South Sudan Government together with the United Nations Development System in the country yesterday inked the United Nations Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework (UNSDCF) 2023-2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The UNSDCF is a framework comprehensively detailing the UN Country Team\u2019s collective effort to contributing to national development priorities in South Sudan for the period 2023-2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It has been developed through a detailed consultation process that included the government line ministries, private sector, civil society, academia, research institutions, women and youth among others.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

General Assembly Resolution 72\/279 elevates the UNSDCF as \u201cthe most important instrument for planning and implementation of the UN development activities at country level in support of implementation of the 2030 Agenda for sustainable development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

President Kiir vowed that he will make sure there is accountability in every donor money that\u2019s made for development in the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cAll of you will be my witness, should there be any shortfall about what we will agree and that help me from all the accusations, the NGO community closed everything to the government that billions of dollars have been given to the government that they are not seeing anything,\u201d he pledged.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cNow there will be accountability and none of us will jump out of it. If you get a dollar, you will account for it,\u201d he assured.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe as the government will account for whatever will be given to us but what have been given to some individuals!\u201d he cited.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He however called on the humanitarian agencies to stand with the South Sudanese population as never before citing that times coming ahead might be tougher for the people.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

 \u201cIf there is anything to needed from the development partners or from the international NGO, it\u2019s this time coming that we will need your utmost support because it will be disaster if there is no support coming from your side,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
