{"id":11310,"date":"2022-12-24T18:41:13","date_gmt":"2022-12-24T18:41:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/onecitizendaily.com\/?p=11310"},"modified":"2022-12-23T18:42:47","modified_gmt":"2022-12-23T18:42:47","slug":"womens-bloc-pushes-for-enactment-of-35-affirmative-action-in-opp","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.onecitizendaily.com\/index.php\/2022\/12\/24\/womens-bloc-pushes-for-enactment-of-35-affirmative-action-in-opp\/","title":{"rendered":"<strong>Women\u2019s Bloc pushes for enactment of 35% affirmative action in OPP<\/strong>"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>By Mary Poni<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Women\u2019s Bloc of South Sudan has appealed to the government to reconsider the 35 percent affirmative action for women in Other Political Parties (OPP).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Chairperson for Women\u2019s Bloc of South Sudan, Amer Manyok Deng said that this time around, President Salva Kiir shall give chance to a woman to represent Other Political Parties (OPP) in regards to the ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to Amer, South Sudan is a liberal democratic state where human rights and fundamental rights of women still have great prospect. She therefore called on the enactment of the provisions set aside for women in the peace agreement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI strongly call upon the government of South Sudan to reconsider the 35 percent women affirmative action in OPP\u201d Amer Manyok stated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe quoted that the R-ARCSS 2018 Article 1.4.4 and 1.12.2 on participation of women 35% in executives, the parties shall nominate no fewer than 12 women to the council of ministers and thereby reinvigorate gender equality and provide inclusive system of governance in South Sudan\u201d she continued.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Women\u2019s Bloc has confirmed and declared their readiness, solidarity and full commitment as South Sudanese women to the government of South Sudan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Chairperson believes the Bloc plans to carry out and event dubbed, \u2018Walk for Peace\u2019 on the 9<sup>th<\/sup> of January 2023.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In addition, she called on the government, as well as international and national organizations to support women in all levels.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Mary Poni Women\u2019s Bloc of South Sudan has appealed to the government to reconsider the 35 percent affirmative action for women in Other Political Parties (OPP).
