A woman lawmaker representing\u00a0Lainya\u00a0County at the reconstituted transitional national legislative assembly (R-TNLA) has accused a soldier\u00a0serving with\u00a0the\u00a0South Sudan\u00a0People’s\u00a0Defense Force\u00a0SSPDF\u00a0of torturing a 13 year old girl after kidnapping her in\u00a0Lainya County\u00a0noting that the perpetrator\u00a0had\u00a0caused trauma to the\u00a0girl’s\u00a0family after months of\u00a0searching.
Speaking to the media yesterday, MP\u00a0Dusman\u00a0Joice, disclosed that\u00a0a\u00a013 year old girl was kidnapped by\u00a0a\u00a0soldier\u00a0from\u00a0the 9th\u00a0\u2013August-2023\u00a0up to\u00a04th-April where\u00a0she surfaced\u00a0the incident.
She stated that the\u00a0soldier,\u00a0after torturing the\u00a0girl,\u00a0brought her and dumped her near\u00a0Mouna\u00a0medical complex in\u00a0Juba\u2019s Mouna\u00a0neighborhood and escaped.
She added that the young lady who lost hope of survival after being dumped by the kidnapper suffered on the floor helplessly but\u00a0later rescued by a sanctified doctor who requested her\u00a0parents’ numbers\u00a0for confirmation.
According to\u00a0Dusman,\u00a0the soldier was believed to have beaten the girl on\u00a0account of communicating with another man on\u00a0the phone,\u00a0giving a clear definition that he kidnapped her for marriage\u00a0purposes.
Dusman\u00a0said the lady is slowly recovering but\u00a0lacks the\u00a0appetite to eat anything to strengthen her body.
She warned\u00a0men,\u00a0especially\u00a0soldiers,\u00a0against the tendency\u00a0to mistreat\u00a0women and young girls\u00a0below,\u00a0saying that they will not let the law\u00a0favor any man.
“On\u00a0the 9th\u00a0\u2013August-2022,\u00a0a 13 year old girl called Anna Michael\u00a0Sebit\u00a0was kidnapped by a soldier called Mabior of\u00a0SSPDF\u00a0from\u00a0Lainya\u00a0County. Since that\u00a0day,\u00a0the family of the young lady has been looking for her. As representative of\u00a0Lainya\u00a0in the parliament, we have also been looking for the person who kidnapped\u00a0her,\u201d Dusman\u00a0narrated.
Following the communication between the doctor and the\u00a0girl\u2019s\u00a0mother, it was discovered that the young girl was taken and dumped at the hospital with signs of beatings all over her body.
\u201cIt\u00a0was only on the 4th\u00a0\u2013April-2023\u00a0when a doctor called the mother. It seemed the girl gave the telephone\u00a0to the doctor after she\u00a0was brought\u00a0and dumped\u00a0at\u00a0Mouna\u00a0hospital of Dr.\u00a0Festo\u201d\u00a0she continued.
\u201cBecause\u00a0the mother is in\u00a0Lainya,\u00a0started calling\u00a0the\u00a0uncles in Juba and other relatives as well as us. When we went to the hospital, we found that the girl was beaten by the soldier who\u00a0kidnapped her from\u00a0Lainya.\u00a0After noticing that the\u00a0situation\u00a0of the girl was critical, he\u00a0brought\u00a0her and dumped\u00a0her\u00a0in the\u00a0hospital,\u201d\u00a0he added.
The MP said Anna the victim suffered serious internal blood cloth that required\u00a0operation as prescribed by the medical doctor.
Dusman\u00a0further said the family was financially challenged after the doctor recommended\u00a0operation for the victim with the bill of 200,000\u00a0SSP\u00a0saying that with good faith, the doctor was able to conduct the operation.
Meanwhile,\u00a0the perpetrator of the\u00a0act,\u00a0identified as\u00a0Mabior,\u00a0was reportedly apprehended and detained at\u00a0Munuki\u00a0police station after disclosing himself at the hospital with the\u00a0intention\u00a0of monitoring the situation secretly.
“As\u00a0a\u00a0woman’s\u00a0representation and representative of\u00a0Lainya,\u00a0I am condemning this act. Our girls and women are really suffering because of rape and we\u00a0don’t\u00a0know\u00a0why,” she said.
Moreover, she added that the perpetrator should not go unpunished since he\u00a0had caused\u00a0trauma and committed defilement if at all he raped the\u00a0girl,\u00a0noting that\u00a0they\u00a0(Women parliamentarians) are going to meet the head of\u00a0police and the State minister of gender over the matter.
However,\u00a0Dusman\u00a0did not disclose the second name of the perpetrator alongside the location of his duty in\u00a0Lainya\u00a0County.
In response to the accusation, Maj. Gen.\u00a0Lul Ruai Koang\u00a0the spokesperson\u00a0of\u00a0the\u00a0SSPDF told\u00a0No.1 Citizen daily newspaper that he\u00a0wasn’t\u00a0aware of what happened and promised to follow up if more details concerning the incident are gathered.
Lul\u00a0also said that the concern raised by the Honorable member was not in detail since the suspected soldier has been identified by a single name.
\u201cLainya\u00a0has so many forces. Let the victim or the MP give more information so that we\u00a0can\u00a0contact the\u00a0base\u00a0of the suspect.
