At least two fishermen have drowned in River Nile after the canoe they were sailing in capsized at Nidirindiri landing site, Palorinya sub-county in Uganda\u2019s Obongi district.<\/strong><\/p>\n The deceased identified as Amanga Majid, a resident of Aliba sub-county and Yasin Mundasiri, who resides in Kochi sub-county, met their fate while fishing during night hours.<\/p>\n Bodies of the duo have been then recovered and handed over to their relatives for burial.<\/p>\n Kifaba Edward, a businessman operating in Obongi landing site advised fishermen to always abandon their activities during bad weather.<\/p>\n \u201cI still don\u2019t know how some people behave, they see weather is bad and there is strong wind, they continue fishing,\u2019\u2019 he said.<\/p>\n Kifaba also blamed some men of going to fish while drunk.<\/p>\n \u201cOthers first drink the local alcohol, then go to do fishing,\u2019\u2019 he noted.<\/p>\n At least four people have so far perished in separate accidents in the river Nile within a space of five days.<\/p>\n Obongi resident district commissioner (RDC), Samuel Mpimbaza Hashaka, confirmed the incident.<\/p>\n He cautioned fishermen and residents travelling on water body to be extra cautious, use life jackets, and avoid using boats when it is raining.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" By Jurugo Emmanuel Ogasto At least two fishermen have drowned in River Nile after the canoe they were sailing in capsized at Nidirindiri landing site, Palorinya sub-county in Uganda\u2019s Obongi district.
