Northern Bahr El Ghazal state Ministry of Health is launching a vaccination campaign for river blindness, in Aweil South and Center counties.<\/b><\/p>\n
Acting Director General in the ministry, Peter Dut Thiep told this outlet that training of personnel to conduct the vaccination in the two counties is ongoing.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt will last for three days\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
According to Dut, the vaccination campaign targets over one hundred and fifty thousand beneficiaries who are under 5 years and pregnant mothers.<\/p>\n
\u201cAweil South alone will have 96,836 and Aweil center will have fifty-five thousand.<\/p>\n
Dut said the trainees will get the vaccines and go out for the campaign.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are going to send the teams out to Aweil South and Aweil Center counties, respectively\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
River blindness is a tropical disease contracted a bit by an insect which lives along the riverbanks.<\/p>\n
