South Sudan Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management condemned the recent looting of World Food Programme (WFP) warehouse in Bor town of Jonglei State. <\/strong><\/p>\n This comes after a group of armed youth broke into WFP compound on May 23, 2023, and looted a lorry loaded with sorghum.<\/p>\n The minister called on the state authority to provide security for humanitarian workers and facilities to enable them to reach the most vulnerable populations with lifesaving services.<\/p>\n \u201cThis is very unfortunate situation of such \u2018senseless human right violation\u2019 which continues to happen in Jonglei State,\u201d the minister lamented.<\/p>\n He said as ministry, they are \u2018alarmed\u2019 of the repetitive attacks on aid staff, which could hamper provision of humanitarian assistance to the needy individuals.<\/p>\n The minister also added that government of South Sudan is committed to the core principles and ethics of humanitarian organizations, to protect aid workers.<\/p>\n \u201cThe government supports core humanitarian principles and ethics in facilitating delivering emergency aid and creating enabling environment for protection of aid operation to save lives,\u201d he noted.<\/p>\n Jonglei state police Commissioner, Elia Costa told a local radio that the suspects stole about 148 bags from the lorry.<\/p>\n He also revealed that police pursuit has managed to capture two suspected youth linked to the looting.<\/p>\n Recently, the United State, Norway and United Kingdom condemned the attack on World Food Programme warehouse.<\/p>\n Troika also reiterated a call on the unity government to create conducive environment that is safe and effective for provision of assistance.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" By William Madouk South Sudan Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management condemned the recent looting of World Food Programme (WFP) warehouse in Bor town of Jonglei State.
