Education supervisor of schools in Pagirinya refugee camp in Obongi district has reported a low turn-up of teachers and school children in the settlement<\/strong>.<\/p>\n Stakeholders in Pagirinya refugee settlement are concerned about the declining transition of learners from primary to secondary level of education.<\/p>\n This has been attributed to absenteeism among learners and teachers, lack of school meals and child marriages, as well as teenage pregnancies.<\/p>\n Speaking to No. 1 Citizen Daily Newspaper, Tandru Edward a settlement education supervisor said 45% of school children have not reported this term to their various schools.<\/p>\n \u201cMajority of the children both in primary and secondary have not reported as I talk,\u2019\u2019 he said.<\/p>\n Tandru also noted that most teachers especially in Pagirinya refugee settlement have not reported.<\/p>\n \u201cEven the teachers are relaxing at home, yet the second term has started,\u2019\u2019 he added.<\/p>\n According to him, over 21 school-going girls got pregnant during the first term holiday.<\/p>\n \u201cIt is unfortunate that some girls can\u2019t report back because of pregnancy,\u201d he lamented.<\/p>\n Mr. Tandru has advised parents to take full responsibility of their children and send them to school.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" By Jurugo Emmanuel Ogasto Education supervisor of schools in Pagirinya refugee camp in Obongi district has reported a low turn-up of teachers and school children in the settlement.
