Livestock vaccination campaign targeting 790,000 animals and poultry is underway in parts of Greater Pibor Administrative Area. <\/strong><\/p>\n The exercise which started on 12 June, running until July 8, 2023, is supported by United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO).<\/p>\n Speaking to No. 1 Citizen Daily Newspaper, GPAA agriculture minister, Sabila Joseph said the vaccination drive in Pibor and Verthet counties was necessary to protect animals as rains begin.<\/p>\n \u201cThis campaign will help protect our animals from diseases because rains always come with diseases,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n The agriculture official called on residents to get their animals vaccinated.<\/p>\n \u201cAnimals in other counties like Likuangole and Gumuruk were vaccinated in April last year. This vaccination will protect animals against cross-infection as herders begin to return with their cattle,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n GPAA\u2019s information minister, Kelang Abraham, lauded the exercise and said it will help strengthen community livelihoods.<\/p>\n \u201cDuring the rainy season, our animals suffer a lot of problems. So, as a government, we lauded our partners for coming up with this.
