A total of 3,873 returnees and refugees are in dire humanitarian situations in Nyirol County in Jonglei State, local officials said<\/strong>.<\/p>\n The recent influx which includes 230 refugees started arriving in parts of Nyirol County on 2nd<\/sup> June after fleeing the war in Sudan.<\/p>\n \u201cSince June 2, we received 3643 returnees and 230 refugees because of the ongoing war in Sudan,\u201d the county information director, Biel Jiek Lual, told No. 1 Citizen Daily Newspaper<\/em><\/strong>, on Thursday.<\/p>\n He disclosed that the refugees are currently in Chuil Payam, while returnees are in different parts of the county.<\/p>\n According to the county official, the situation of the new arrivals is dire.<\/p>\n \u201cThey lack food and shelter. Some returnees had to integrate themselves into the community while about 32 refugees left for the state capital, Bor yesterday,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n He revealed that the refugees are mainly Ethiopians and Sudanese.<\/p>\n The county Relief and Rehabilitation Commission coordinator, Gatkuoth Dual also decried the humanitarian situation of the displaced persons and appealed for intervention.<\/p>\n \u201cMajority of the people in Chuil and Thol payams are without food and shelter, so we appealed to the aid agencies to come to their help\u201d he added.<\/p>\n Thousands of refugees and returnees have been spilling over into South Sudan since war erupted between the Sudanese rival military factions on April 15.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" By Manas James A total of 3,873 returnees and refugees are in dire humanitarian situations in Nyirol County in Jonglei State, local officials said.
