Cases of animal robbery are on the rise in Aweil East County of Northern Bahr El Ghazal State.<\/b><\/p>\n
A youth leader under the Sudan People Liberation Movement (SPLM) youth league, Mangar Mou Anyar, raised the alarm during the thanksgiving ceremony earlier this week.<\/p>\n
He urged the authorities to intervene in the matter, saying the perpetrators rush the stolen animals straight to auction in the market.<\/p>\n
Mangar said cattle thieves have devised nasty ways of surviving during this difficult economic period by snatching people’s properties.<\/p>\n
“Some people take cows from owners and rush with them to auctions locally known as “Zallala” where they don\u2019t show documents to the buyer for accountability when a problem arises,” he said.<\/p>\n
Mangar advised those buying cows to always wait for the rightful owners who are selling with proper documents that they are accountable for.<\/p>\n
This, he said, will help curb the vice of cattle theft.<\/p>\n
Mangar also appealed to the Aweil East County authorities to put measures in place, to avoid tensions with neighbouring Gogrial, Twic, and Aweil South Counties when their cattle are stolen.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, Aweil East County commissioner, Mr. Kharbino Thiep Tong, acknowledged the perpetuation of the cases.<\/p>\n
“An old woman from Aweil South County has a case with an individual from Aweil East County in that her cow was found being sold in Aweil East County, and it is an ill act,” he condemned.<\/p>\n
The commissioner said he plans to have a meeting with Aweil South County at the border and Makuac-kiir Boma in Madhol Payam to address such misdeeds.<\/p>\n
He requested that individuals to follow the right procedures for survival and livelihood during this tough season.<\/p>\n
