Northern Bahr El Ghazal State governor, Tong Akeen Ngor has donated SSP 10 million towards Aweil West County development initiative.<\/p>\n
The governor declared the donation public, during a visit to Ayat Community in Aweil West County of Northern Bahr El Ghazal State, on Friday.<\/p>\n
He announced that the contribution of 5 million SSP, to start construction of a police station at Mayom Akuak Rel and another 5 million SSP as a financial back-up for a modern secondary school in the area.<\/p>\n
The visit of the state governor, aimed at assessing ongoing developmental activities in the area, especially road construction, by Africa Resource Corporation (ARC).<\/p>\n
The road network connects the area to Raja.<\/p>\n
Governor Tong addressed a mammoth crowd at Ayat Centre in Aweil West County, bordering Raja.<\/p>\n
During the gathering, Representative Chiefs, Sultan Yel Diing Akot outlined challenges facing the community, which encompasses lack of good schools, roads, food insecurity, and communication networks.<\/p>\n
He emphasized the need for the government to look into those matters seriously.<\/p>\n
“We lack police stations, communication networks, and good water points for drinking,” Diing told the governor.<\/p>\n
The area MP who was also in the governor\u2019s entourage, Hon. Aguer Alich, applauded the governor for the visit Ayat community, which is far-flung.<\/p>\n
He assured the community to support the government being led by President Kiir so as to allow services to be delivered.<\/p>\n
In response to the needy population, Governor Tong reminded the audience about the need to support SPLM government, saying it is more deliverable.<\/p>\n
He commended the support that the Aweil West community showcased by contributing money to Aweil University, a project that is still being pursued.<\/p>\n
The governor said the road construction would help a lot and requested that the community provided other materials, such as marram.<\/p>\n
