A road ambush by armed bandits in Twic East County in Jonglei State has left a foreign national dead and a South Sudanese passenger injured, local officials have said.<\/p>\n
Elijah Manyok Ayiei, the county executive director, said the victims met their fate when a cargo tractor they were traveling in came under attack.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis incident occurred at 10 pm along the Jonglei Canal. A tractor carrying food items was attacked. There were 3 people onboard,\u201d he narrated to this outlet.<\/p>\n
\u201cA Ugandan national by the name Judah Samuel was killed and a South Sudanese called Judah Osman was injured while a driver who is also a South Sudanese escaped unhurt.\u201d<\/p>\n
The local official said the attackers also ransacked the vehicle.<\/p>\n
\u201cThose attackers looted the food items in the tractor. \u00a0We condemned the attack and called on everybody to abide by peace agreement between the Nuer, Dinka, and Murle,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n
On his part, Maj. Gen. Elia Costa Faustino, the state police commissioner, also confirmed the killing and said no arrests were made because the incident occurred in the bush.<\/p>\n
“As the police, we do not know the identity of the attackers because no one was arrested.\u201d<\/p>\n
