Northern Bahr El Ghazal State (NBGs) Ministry of General Education and Instructions has dismissed five foreign teachers from teaching for violating the teachers\u2019 code of conduct.<\/p>\n
The five were accused of indulging in love affairs with students and raping some. But it remains unclear if the teachers were taken to court.<\/p>\n
The dismissed teachers were contracted to teach at the Corner Stone Vision Academy private school in NBGs.<\/p>\n
Last week, the teachers in question were arrested by the state police after a seventeen-year-old schoolgirl was allegedly raped by a suspected teacher.<\/p>\n
The dismissal came in a letter signed by the Director General at the state ministry of general education, Santino Bol Akot, as seen by No. 1 Citizen Daily Newspaper yesterday.<\/p>\n
They are Oliatum Francis, Olira Lucky Thomas, Omara Godfrey, Kilama Patrick, and Toolit Richard.<\/p>\n
According to state education authorities, those teachers were fired for violating Part VIII, 3.1.7, and Part VII, 7.3.2, of the South Sudan teachers\u2019 code of conduct.<\/p>\n
“Breach of conduct: A teacher isn\u2019t to indulge in any love affair that tarnishes the image of the professional and the school. Rape, sexual battery, molestation, or any sexual assault\u2014the aforementioned rules were cited as reasons for the teachers\u2019 termination from service in the state,\u201d partly read the letter.<\/p>\n
“These teachers have been accused of practicing love affairs with students,” DG Santino Bol disclosed.<\/p>\n
However, the state education authorities did not clarify in their letter of dismissal whether the accused and now dismissed teachers had been proven guilty in a court of law before their dismissal.<\/p>\n
In the previous week, NBG’s police department revealed that those teachers who were accused of rape rented a ghetto house to spoil female students.<\/p>\n
However, efforts to reach Corner Stone Vision Academy administration for comments on the matter were not immediately successful by press time.<\/p>\n
