Ministry of Finance and Economic Planning has suspended payment of constitutional post-holders and legislators in the adjusted salary structure.<\/p>\n
Government’s spokesperson, Michael Makuei, said that the new salary structure does not apply to constitutional potholders.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt is worth mentioning that the new salary structures are not for public servants, it is only for civil servants,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
According to the information minister, the National Emolument Act has to be enacted first in order to address benefits of the constitutional post holders.<\/p>\n
Makuei said constitutional post holders and the lawmakers bear different payrolls, distinct from the ones of civil servants.<\/p>\n
He noted that the salary scale for minister and legislators is still on the old scale determined by the National Emolument Act which is yet to be amended.<\/p>\n
\u201cUnless the emolument act is amended, this will be when their salaries will be adjusted accordingly,\u201d Makuei added.<\/p>\n
He said they are in the process of amending the national emolument act for the constitutional post holders and the legislators.<\/p>\n
Last year, the former Minister of Finance and Planning, Agak Achuil presented the emolument statute for the fiscal year 2021\/2022 to the Transitional National Legislative Assembly for review.<\/p>\n
