United Nations Development Program (UNDP) in collaboration with the Ministry of Youth and Sports and the Ministry of Gender, Child and Social Welfare, has held a two-day consultation for youth across Eastern Equatoria state as part of the permanent constitution-making process in South Sudan.<\/p>\n
The consultation aims to empower youth on their rights in the constitution-making process.<\/p>\n
Night Agnes, a woman and girls\u2019 activist, stated that the consultation aims to gather views of the youth in the state to be compiled jointly with other youth across the country.<\/p>\n
The National Director General for Youth and Sport, Mario Belefruk Kutta acknowledged the coverage of three states in South Sudan in collecting youth views for inclusion in the permanent constitution-making processes.<\/p>\n
He encouraged Eastern Equatoria state youth to fully participate in decision-making to enhance their voice in the supreme law of the country.<\/p>\n
Eastern Equatoria state deputy youth chairperson, Oriaja James Libirato encouraged participants to share their views with colleagues who missed the forum in Torit.<\/p>\n
The two-day national youth consultation workshop brought representatives from all eight counties of the eastern equatorial state, youth associations, and civil society members in Torit town.<\/p>\n
The consultation was done under the theme: \u201cFor people people-driven and youth-responsive permanent constitution-making process in South Sudan.\u201d<\/p>\n
