An SPLM-IO Member of Parliament, former opposition chief whip in the Central Equatorial State Transitional Legislative Assembly has resigned.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n MP. Dabe Francis Elisama Murye tendered a resignation letter, a copy that this outlet has seen.<\/p>\n Murye stated that during the two years of service as opposition chief whip, he undoubtedly discharged his duties consciously and diligently with dignity and integrity.<\/p>\n \u201cWhile I have mentored members with capabilities to actively and meaningfully participate in the day-to-day businesses of the assembly, I have assurance that no significant leadership gap will ever arise as a result of my decision\u201d he expressed it in the letter.<\/p>\n According to him, parliament is an arm of government that discharges its legislative, oversight, and representative responsibilities.<\/p>\n \u201cWorking in an unelected parliament whose leadership survives on manipulation of its rules and procedures and breaches of laws, it\u2019s difficult and unbearable as a lawmaker. It\u2019s therefore my moral right and constitutional responsibility to tender my resignation,\u201d Dabe stated his intention to quit.<\/p>\n The lawmaker was appointed to the CES assembly in late 2021 and sworn in in February 2022 along with other state lawmakers.<\/p>\n But in May this year, the speaker, Rt. Hon. Peter Wani Elia Kulang, also an SPLM-IO party member suspended MP.
