\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n South Sudan National Bureau of Standards Chairperson wraps up his visit to Nimule town with a market inspection to eliminate substandard goods.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n Dr. Kuorwel Kuai Kuorwel, leading a team, visited supermarkets, shops, fish markets, wholesaler shops, and bakeries at Malakia Market, Nimule town, to inspect standards of products.<\/p>\n During the inspection, some substandard goods were uncovered and confiscated, including soft drinks and cooking oil filled in alcohol bottles, as well as expired and counterfeit goods.<\/p>\n The boss of quality standards stated that the market inspection was to tighten surveillance on the quality of imports.<\/p>\n He cautioned traders to exercise vigilance when they are buying goods to avoid being cheated. He also advises a clean environment and ventilation.<\/p>\n Although alcohol bottles are washed with detergent before being used, Dr. Kuorwel recommends not using them for cooking oil or with any other eatable substances.<\/p>\n On December 20, 2023, South Sudan upped the market inspection within Juba City as the festive season approached to tighten its surveillance on the quality of imports.<\/p>\n During the launch, the Minister of Trade and Industry, William Anyuon Kuol, said the team would carefully examine the products available in markets and stores.<\/p>\n \u201cWhat we are going to do is inspect the markets during this Christmas time. We feel like maybe some people who don’t have ethics may decide to bring some of the acquired goods that they have with them to the market,\u201d said Kuol.<\/p>\n He stated that it is their role to conduct regular reviews to identify and eliminate substandard goods from circulation.<\/p>\n Mr. Kuol called upon the citizens to be vigilant and report any cases of below-average goods.<\/p>\n Kuol also mooted a plan for a comprehensive joint team comprising his docket, SSNBS, and town council for proper checking of factories operating in the capital, Juba, and their duty to standard.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" By William Madouk \u00a0 South Sudan National Bureau of Standards Chairperson wraps up his visit to Nimule town with a market inspection to eliminate substandard goods.
