At least seven people were injured in clashes between sub-clans of the Lith section of the Pakam community in Rumbek North County, Lakes State yesterday.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n The clashes reportedly occurred at a cattle camp in Meen Payam, according to Maj. Elijah Mabor Makuac, the Lakes State Spokesperson of the police.<\/p>\n He narrated that the incident began when a young man accidentally dropped his bull near calves tied to a stake. The owner of the calves then confronted the young man, leading to an argument that escalated into a fight between the two individuals.<\/p>\n “The fight quickly escalated into a larger clash between the two sub-clans,” Maj. Makuac explained. “Fortunately, no one was killed, but seven people sustained injuries.”<\/p>\n According to him the injured were evacuated to Rumbek North county headquarters in Maper for medical treatment.<\/p>\n Maj. Makuac however noted that the evacuation was difficult due to the remote location of the cattle camp, known as Pook, which is inaccessible by vehicles.<\/p>\n “The victims were carried to Maper by traditional means,” he said.<\/p>\n The police spokesperson also expressed challenges in the identification of the perpetrators in the remote.<\/p>\n “Identifying and apprehending the perpetrators will take some time due to the distance,” Maj. Makuac acknowledged.<\/p>\n “However, we are using information from the injured to track down those involved and bring them to justice.”<\/p>\n He added that the initial fight involved sticks, but guns were later used.
