A fire outbreak at Kapoeta South County main market, Eastern Equatoria State, resulted in losses for traders and tragic death of a 17-year-old boy.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n Eight shops were destroyed in a blaze at midnight on Saturday, which claimed the life of Simon Vitau.<\/p>\n The cause of the fire remains under investigation, according to Assistant Inspector of Civil Defense Service Directorate, Captain Salah John Lou.<\/p>\n “Sadly, four individuals were sleeping inside one of the shops, while three managed to escape, the 17-year-old boy was found unconscious and later succumbed to his injuries” Captain Salah explained.<\/p>\n Authorities said they were alerted to the incident around midnight and found the fire already engulfing multiple shops upon arrival.<\/p>\n Captain Salah expressed concern about recurring negligence regarding electrical safety in Kapoeta markets, despite ongoing awareness campaigns.<\/p>\n “We consistently emphasize the importance of proper electrical management to both residents and business owners,” he said. “Unfortunately, the Kapoeta market exhibits numerous safety violations, putting people and property at risk.”<\/p>\n The Civil Defense Service urges the community to prioritize fire safety measures, including proper electrical wiring, readily available fire extinguishers, and clear escape routes.<\/p>\n Civil Defense Service authorities assured their commitment to investigating the cause of this incident and collaborate with local authorities to prevent future tragedies.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" By Ijoo Bosco A fire outbreak at Kapoeta South County main market, Eastern Equatoria State, resulted in losses for traders and tragic death of a 17-year-old boy.
