\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n A 45-day refresher training program for 1,000 police officers has commenced in Northern Bahr El Ghazal state-Aweil.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n The program that aimed at enhancing the personnel\u2019s skills in protecting civilians and property has attracted both commissioned and non-commissioned officers.<\/p>\n The State Commissioner of Police, Philip Madut Tong emphasized the need for officers to revisit fundamental skills and legal principles related to a crucial role in safeguarding and enforcing the law.<\/p>\n “This training equips you with the essential tenets of upholding the rule of law, enshrined in the constitution and outlined in the Police Act,” stated Madut on Tuesday.<\/p>\n “As police officers, you bear a critical responsibility to enforce the law impartially, protecting property without prejudice against any citizen regardless of race, gender, or origin,” he added.<\/p>\n The State Governor, Tong Aken Ngor encouraged participants to utilize the training opportunity to cultivate teamwork, exercise restraint, and maintain friendly conduct despite potential challenges.<\/p>\n He emphasized the importance of officers understanding their duties and responsibilities.<\/p>\n “It is commendable for an officer to fully grasp their role,” Ngor said.<\/p>\n “This training includes not only physical fitness exercises, like running, which are standard in military and police work, but also theoretical lectures to enrich your legal knowledge and professional conduct” he continued.<\/p>\n This initiative follows a recent call by the Inspector General of Police, Gen.
