\u00a0<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n South Sudan and Uganda Revenue Authorities have agreed to deal with border trade frauds.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n The Commissioner General of South Sudan Revenue Authority, Africano Mande in a meeting with his Ugandan counterpart John R. Musinguzi, vowed to curb corruption along the border.<\/p>\n The two shared progress of implementation of the new Cargo Tracking Note (CTN) system.<\/p>\n In a statement, Mande said the move aims at eliminating fraud since individuals among the border officials masquerade and extort money from traders.<\/p>\n According to Mande, the only solution to deal with such fraud is by introducing the Electronic Cargo Tracking Device set for 15th<\/sup> of this Month.<\/p>\n As SSRA gets accustomed to using the system, the teams are picking lessons from URA, which is already using an electronic cargo tracking system.<\/p>\n \u201cI have tasked our people to profile the gaps we have in customs so that we can benefit from your experience. We do not want to invent a new model but rather run from the existing ones in the region,\u201d Mande said.<\/p>\n In order to ensure smooth implementation and adoption of the system by all stakeholders, Okaka Geoffrey, Assistant Commissioner, Field Services at URA, said thorough sensitization of stakeholders will be done.<\/p>\n \u201cWe shall have to sensitize sector players like associations, transporters, and taxpayers,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n URA CG lauded South Sudan for the cordial relationship and reiterated URA\u2019s willingness to support the young nation.<\/p>\n He called for joint efforts in the elimination of revenue leakages.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" By Bida Elly David \u00a0 South Sudan and Uganda Revenue Authorities have agreed to deal with border trade frauds.
