{"id":23149,"date":"2024-03-28T14:03:06","date_gmt":"2024-03-28T14:03:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/onecitizendaily.com\/?p=23149"},"modified":"2024-03-28T14:03:06","modified_gmt":"2024-03-28T14:03:06","slug":"south-sudan-qualifies-for-afcon-2025","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.onecitizendaily.com\/index.php\/2024\/03\/28\/south-sudan-qualifies-for-afcon-2025\/","title":{"rendered":"South Sudan qualifies for AFCON 2025"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>By: By Kei Emmanuel Duku<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>South Sudan National Team the Bright Stars secured a slot in the TotalEnergies African Cup of Nation 2025 in Morocco after a goalless draw against S\u00e3o Tom\u00e9 e Pr\u00edncipe in the preliminary match played in Berkane Municipal Stadium in Morocco on Tuesday evening.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Tuesday\u2019s 0:0 draw against S\u00e3o Tom\u00e9 e Pr\u00edncipe came three days after the two teams drew 1:1 last week on Friday in the first league.<\/p>\n<p>Having scored an away goal in the first league means The Bright Stars qualified for the group stages of the African Cup of Nations on-away goal rules.<\/p>\n<p>The Bright Stars now join Liberia who advanced to the next round after a 2:0 win on aggregate having won the first league 2:0 away from home and drew goalless on Tuesday evening in the return league.<\/p>\n<p>Other qualified teams include Chad and Eswatini, where Chad beat Mauritius 1:0 and 2:1 making it 3:1 on aggregate.
