Eastern Equatoria State authorities are urging youth to embrace creativity and self-reliance for nation building.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n State Minister of Peace building, Marko Lokidor made the call while addressing young people at a recent project launch in Torit, emphasizing the need to move beyond dependence on cattle raiding and government handouts.<\/p>\n He underscored the need for a transformation among the young men and women in the society.<\/p>\n “Become innovative and create value for South Sudan’s economy. Don’t rely on cattle rustling or crime. We want the youth to change their mindset.” Lokidor said.<\/p>\n Minister Lokidor further encouraged youth to take advantage of South Sudan’s fertile land and abundant resources.<\/p>\n “Form development groups and propose projects to improve your lives and society,” he advised. “We can support you if you take ownership.”<\/p>\n However, Margaret Ladu, a United Nations Development Program (UNDP) officer, highlighted the importance of collaboration. She emphasized on the need for joint efforts between youth and the authorities.<\/p>\n Mrs. Ladu further urged the youth to be patient and hopeful for a peaceful and better tomorrow.<\/p>\n “Peace is the foundation for development.
