{"id":26646,"date":"2024-07-16T10:19:37","date_gmt":"2024-07-16T10:19:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/onecitizendaily.com\/?p=26646"},"modified":"2024-07-16T10:19:37","modified_gmt":"2024-07-16T10:19:37","slug":"14-abducted-children-return-to-akobo","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.onecitizendaily.com\/index.php\/2024\/07\/16\/14-abducted-children-return-to-akobo\/","title":{"rendered":"14 abducted children return to Akobo"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span lang=\"EN-US\" style=\"font-size: 14.0pt;\">By Deng Ghai Deng<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong><em><span lang=\"EN-US\" style=\"font-size: 14.0pt;\">At least fourteen children who were abducted from Akobo County several years ago have finally returned home from the Greater Pibor Administrative Area (GPAA). <\/span><\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN-US\" style=\"font-size: 14.0pt;\">The joyous reunions, however, are accompanied by a sad challenge: some of the children struggle to remember their own identities or the names given to them by their biological parents.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN-US\" style=\"font-size: 14.0pt;\">Puok Nyang Tutjiek, the commissioner of Akobo County, confirmed to Number One Citizen Newspaper that three more children arrived in Akobo on July 9, 2024. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN-US\" style=\"font-size: 14.0pt;\">&#8220;These children remember only their first names, which has made identification a complex task,&#8221; Puok remarked. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN-US\" style=\"font-size: 14.0pt;\">\u201cDespite these memory gaps, their return has ignited a renewed sense of hope among families who had long feared they might never embrace their missing loved ones again.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN-US\" style=\"font-size: 14.0pt;\">The recent arrivals join an expanding cohort of children who have voluntarily made their way back from GPAA. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN-US\" style=\"font-size: 14.0pt;\">Earlier, on July 5, 2024, two girls and one boy returned, following a group of seven children who arrived prior. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN-US\" style=\"font-size: 14.0pt;\">Currently, these young souls are under the care and support of the Commissioner\u2019s residence as they reintegrate into their communities.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN-US\" style=\"font-size: 14.0pt;\">Commissioner Puok emphasized that while the scars of abduction may linger, the unwavering love and determination of their families ensure a promising future for each child who has found their way back home.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Deng Ghai Deng &nbsp; At least fourteen children who were abducted from Akobo County several years ago have finally returned home from the Greater Pibor Administrative Area (GPAA).
