The Council of East and Central African Football Association (CECAFA) has confirmed that the zonal qualifiers for the women\u2019s tournament will be held in the Ethiopian capital Addis Ababa from August 17 to September 3, 2024<\/strong><\/em>.<\/p>\n

Matches will be played at the Abebe Bikila and Addis Ababa Stadiums. The draw for the competition was conducted in Cairo, Egypt, on Wednesday, dividing the nine participating teams into two groups. Group A consists of five teams, while Group B comprises four.<\/p>\n

CECAFA Women Development Manager, Jean Sseninde, explained that the draw was based on the rankings from the previous CECAFA tournament won by Tanzania\u2019s Simbia Queens FC. As the host nation.<\/p>\n

Ethiopia\u2019s Commercial Bank of Ethiopia was placed in Pot A1, with defending champions Simbia Queens in Pot B1. Kenya Police Bullets and Burundi\u2019s PVP Buyenzi FC were also seeded in Groups A and B respectively based on their rankings.<\/p>\n

South Sudan\u2019s three-time league champions, Yei Joint Stars, have been drawn in Group A alongside Kenya Police Bullets FC, Rwanda\u2019s Rayon Sports FC, Zanzibar\u2019s Warrior Queens, and Commercial Bank of Ethiopia FC.<\/p>\n

Yei Joint Stars will play their opening fixtures on the 20th of August 2024 against Kenya Police Bullets before winding it against Warrior Queens on the 27th<\/sup>\/08\/2024.<\/p>\n

Group B will feature Uganda\u2019s Kawempe Muslim FC, Burundi\u2019s PVP Buyenzi FC, Tanzania\u2019s Simba Queens FC, and Djibouti\u2019s FAD Djibouti FC.<\/p>\n
