The Ministry of Local Government and Law Enforcement Agency in Central Equatoria State is working on drafting a five-year strategic plan to achieve lasting peace and improve service delivery in six counties.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n This was announced yesterday during the launch of a three-day workshop aimed at developing the 5-year plan for the ministry to enhance service delivery and foster better relationships with partners.<\/p>\n Mr. Leon Abe Brown, the CES minister of local government, stated that the policy plan could result in a transformed state, where developmental projects and changes in administrative ethics can be realized.<\/p>\n \u201cYou plan in all these five years what you can start today, in a particular minute but you make the whole thing for 5 years or 10 years,\u201d he explained.<\/p>\n \u201cYou will expect change in administrative ethics, in roles of development and you may expect things administratively and technocratically with the help of our partners,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n The workshop organized by the ministry and partly funded by Oxfam is attended by ministry advisors and line ministries in the Central Equatoria state.<\/p>\n It includes partners such as; the International Organization for Migration (IOM), Oxfam, United Nations Development Program (UNDP) and The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).<\/p>\n Besides, the Director General in the state ministry of local government, Canon. Martin Simon Wani stated that \u201cthe strategic plan is not just like any other academic document.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cBut it is a document that can help the ministry and the local government councils to initiate and implement the projects that can contribute in realization of lasting peace, sustainable service delivery and equitable development.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cI am always optimistic and strongly believe that the development of a strategic plan can encourage our government and partners to support our efforts for improvement of service delivery and development in local government councils of CES,\u201d he noted.<\/p>\n Meanwhile, the Oxfam representative states \u201cwe believe strategic planning is a tool that enables all of us to focus and ensure that we have resources to endeavour and do what we plan to do.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cWe will work together to ensure that the common goal we have come out within this strategic planning will be our tool or will be day to day guidance,\u201d she noted.<\/p>\n The event was organized under the theme \u201ctogether for lasting peace, sustainable service delivery and equitable development in local government councils of Central Equatoria State\u201d<\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" By William Madouk The Ministry of Local Government and Law Enforcement Agency in Central Equatoria State is working on drafting a five-year strategic plan to achieve lasting peace and improve service delivery in six counties.
