At least five people sustained gunshot injuries after being shot at by a rogue police officer in Hai Cinema on Saturday evening.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n According to South Sudan People\u2019s Defence Forces (SSPDF)\u2019s Spokesperson, Maj Gen Lul Ruai Koang, an officer identified as 1st-Lt Marial went and had dinner at a Sudanese-owned restaurant and refused to pay a bill.<\/p>\n \u201cUpon eating, Marial refused to pay bills resulting in a minor quarrel with the owner. In an unexpected turn of events, Maria left, returned with a loaded gun and immediately opened fire,\u201d said Ruai in a statement.<\/p>\n \u201cWhich resulted in five people sustaining gunshot wounds,\u201d he continued.<\/p>\n Army spokesperson said the officer was instantly arrested and he is now in detention at police headquarters, Buluk.<\/p>\n \u201cThe rogue officer was immediately arrested by CID officers and is currently detained at ICT, Police HQs\u2013 Buluk,\u201d Ruai noted.<\/p>\n Besides, general Ruai revealed that the Criminal Investigation Department officers are still searching for the culprits who shot at pedestrians waiting for a bus at the Seventh Day roundabout.<\/p>\n \u201cOperations aimed at arresting gunmen who opened fire on pedestrians at Seventh Day Round are still underway,\u201d he revealed.<\/p>\n These two latest incidents came over a week ago when heavy night gunfire in Juba was ignited by two drivers who defied some security checks.<\/p>\n General Ruai earlier narrated that those two separate incidents led to the rain of bullets, which rocked Juba City.<\/p>\n He told journalists that the first incident involved a Primo car whose driver, identified as Moulana or Advocate, Santino Simon Abang, refused to stop at the Kololo night security checkpoint, which prompted the first shooting at around 10 o\u2019clock.<\/p>\n He stated that Advocate Abang had two underage girls, whom, he picked up from Konyo-Konyo on the understanding that he was to drop them off in the Mangateen suburb.<\/p>\n SSPDF spokesman further stated the second shooting was witnessed near Dr. John Garang Mausoleum, around the ministry\u2019s road junction near the JICA water plant.<\/p>\n It involved a tinted Pajero vehicle registration number 008 JVMM, a car belonging to the SSPDF, driven by the second suspect, Tong Yai Akoon.<\/p>\n Like his co-accused, Yai also fled the security checkpoint next to the JICA water plant project site near parliament premises, triggering the second sporadic shooting.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" By William Madouk At least five people sustained gunshot injuries after being shot at by a rogue police officer in Hai Cinema on Saturday evening.
