South Sudan Red Cross On Tuesday conducted a successful one-day cleaning campaign at Lakes Rumbek Hospital State, aiming to promote hygiene and health in the community.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

Samuel Malou, head of the South Sudan Red Cross Rumbek branch said the campaign was coordinated by communications and volunteer teams.<\/p>\n

The effort focused on maintaining a clean environment in healthcare facilities, which is essential for preventing health risks.<\/p>\n

The team targeted two main areas: the pediatric ward and medical wards, cleaning both the interiors and exteriors, and clearing tall grass around the hospital compound.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe encourage all patients to participate in keeping the surroundings clean. A hygienic environment helps protect against health risks within the hospital and at home, especially as many people seek treatment here,\u201d Malou stated.<\/p>\n

He highlighted the urgent need for cleanliness, particularly given the current spike in malaria cases.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf patients come to a hospital that is not clean, they could contract additional illnesses,\u201d he explained. \u201cThis is why the South Sudan Red Cross is focused on this cleanup initiative.\u201d<\/p>\n

Terran Madit Terran, Medical Director of Rumbek Hospital, praised the South Sudan Red Cross for their impactful work in promoting health and hygiene.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe received a good number of volunteers from the South Sudan Red Cross this morning, and they cleaned the wards and the surrounding areas thoroughly. This type of cooperation is invaluable,\u201d he stated.<\/p>\n

\u201cHygiene is a crucial aspect of health, and we hope to continue this collaboration towards achieving our shared goals of a healthier, cleaner society through WASH initiatives.\u201d<\/p>\n

Debora Aguek Ngang, a cleaner in the malaria ward, also expressed gratitude for the support from the South Sudan Red Cross.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe lack adequate cleaning materials to maintain the wards,\u201d she said, urging the government and partners to provide necessary supplies.<\/p>\n

Despite facing salary delays of over nine months, she remains dedicated to helping patients achieve better health.<\/p>\n

The campaign not only improved the hospital’s environment but also reinforced the commitment of local organizations to enhance public health standards in Rumbek.<\/p>\n
