A violent cattle raid in Jonglei State\u2019s Ayod County has resulted in one fatality and the theft of over 4,000 heads of cattle.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n The attack, allegedly carried out by thieves from the neighbouring Uror County last week, has raised tensions and calls for intervention.<\/p>\n Mary Nyualang, a Member of Parliament representing Ayod County in the Transitional National Legislative Assembly (TNLA), raised the alarm over the incident during a parliamentary session on Tuesday.<\/p>\n She described the raid as brutal and devastating, noting that among the stolen cattle was a group of 41 heads, and a woman\u2014mother to a 3-month-old baby\u2014was killed in the attack.<\/p>\n Nyualang detailed that the raiders, who fled back to Uror County after the assault, left a trail of destruction.<\/p>\n The local commissioner and his team managed to recover some of the stolen cattle, but the majority remains missing.<\/p>\n \u201cThe situation is extremely tense,\u201d Nyualang told Parliament. \u201cWe urge the authorities in Uror County to take responsibility and prevent further acts of violence and revenge.\u201d<\/p>\n Efforts to reach officials in Uror County for comment on the raid and the ongoing security situation were not immediately successful.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" By Deng Ghai Deng A violent cattle raid in Jonglei State\u2019s Ayod County has resulted in one fatality and the theft of over 4,000 heads of cattle.
