The newly appointed Director General of the Internal Security Bureau of the National Security Service (NSS), General Akec Tong Aleu, has pledged to take a strong stance against corruption.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n During his reception at the NSS headquarters (Blue House) on Tuesday, Gen. Akec declared commitment to combating corruption from day one of his tenure.<\/p>\n \u201cFrom today onward, the malpractices of corruption that are taking place in this country will stop today,\u201d Akec said.<\/p>\n The Internal Security Bureau Director General reiterated that his tenure would not tolerate corruption, citing that it is a redline.<\/p>\n He promised never to Favor anyone, including their relatives, should they be found in the practice of corruption.<\/p>\n Akec issued a stern warning to some of his relatives who may be engaging in corruption but later seek cover, adding that corruption will never be tolerated.<\/p>\n \u201cI have a relative among you, but do not see me as your relative; no, even my son is among you; my own children are among you, but this is a redline (corruption); do not cross if you cross it; you carry your own cross,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n Akec appreciated President Salva Kiir for the chance and promised to use it as his last opportunity to reduce corruption in the country.<\/p>\n \u201cI do not want to corrupt my legacy, which I found for this country,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n He reiterated that as an exemplary leader who has never been involved in cases of corruption, he would be able to fight the vice.<\/p>\n Gen. Akec noted that the NSS has faced significant criticism and emphasized the importance of refocusing on its intended mandate.<\/p>\n \u201cI want to be exemplary to this nation because all of us who came from Bush are being accused of that (corruption),\u201d he added.<\/p>\n Akec appreciated the former Director of Internal Security, Bureau Gen. Akol Koor Kuc, for transforming the security service.<\/p>\n He called on all the security officers to be united and work together in order to achieve more in the national security service.<\/p>\n In his part, Minister for National Security, Gen. Isaac Obuto Mamur mete, called on the security officers to encourage teamwork to meet their mandate.<\/p>\n He cautions the NSS members to look critically and prevent anyone who might have bad intentions toward the country.<\/p>\n \u201cLook critically at those who wanted to bring down the flag of South Sudan,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n He urged all the officers to distance themselves from malpractices that divert their attention from the assigned task.<\/p>\n Early this month, President Salva Kiir summarily relieved the long-serving Director General of the Internal Security Bureau of the National Security Service (NSS), Gen.
