South Sudan U-20 Junior Team suffered a 1-0 defeat against Burundi U-20 in their opening match of the TotalEnergies CAF U-20 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) CECAFA Qualifiers in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

Christophe Ndayikengurukiye scored the lone goal for Burundi in the 8th minute, joining Uganda Hippos who also won their opening game against Ethiopia.<\/p>\n

South Sudan’s next match is today against Ethiopia, while Uganda Hippos will face Burundi U-20. With this defeat, South Sudan must win their remaining two games or draw one and hope for favorable results from their opponents.<\/p>\n

Yesterday, hosts Tanzania defeated Djibouti 1-0, and Sudan played against Rwanda.<\/p>\n

Nine teams are participating in the tournament, with the top two teams qualifying to represent the CECAFA Zone at the TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations U-20 2025.<\/p>\n
