{"id":30052,"date":"2024-10-25T13:22:47","date_gmt":"2024-10-25T11:22:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/onecitizendaily.com\/?p=30052"},"modified":"2024-10-25T13:23:31","modified_gmt":"2024-10-25T11:23:31","slug":"nunu-turns-to-splm-economic-taskforce-for-recovery","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.onecitizendaily.com\/index.php\/2024\/10\/25\/nunu-turns-to-splm-economic-taskforce-for-recovery\/","title":{"rendered":"Nunu turns to SPLM economic taskforce for recovery"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>By Yiep Joseph<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Speaker of the Transitional National Legislative Assembly (TNLA), Jemma Nunu Kumba, has called on the SPLM economic taskforce to help as the economic situation continues to worsen.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>While addressing the party members, speaker Nunu appealed to the Sudan Peoples Liberation Movement (SPLM) leadership to spend more energy on solving the economic crisis.<\/p>\n<p>She reached out to the SPLM economic taskforce to bring new ideas that could help the government solve the continuing economic crisis in the country.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur (SPLM) economic taskforce, helps bring us ideas to solve the economic problem,\u201d Nunu said.<\/p>\n<p>Nunu emphasized the need for the taskforce to generate positive ideas that would aid the government institutions tackle the crisis.<\/p>\n<p>The speaker, however, urged all the party members to stop struggling for positions and focus on things affecting the country.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLet us stop fighting among ourselves. We have major national issues to address, we have a big problem in our country to address, we have the economic problem we are struggling with. We have issues of insecurity that we need to be talking about,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>She reiterated that the persistent economic crisis coupled with hunger and flooding continues to worry the government, citing the need to team up to get the solution.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have hunger, how can we solve it? Most of our people are affected by floods. How do we address that humanitarian crisis? They are not in their homes. These are the things that should be occupying our minds,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>Nunu reiterated that the Presidency, and the government in particular demanded the knowledgeable citizens to generate ideas that could move the country forward.<\/p>\n<p><strong>This year, SPLM SG Peter Lam, revealed that the party-initiated plans to handle the economic crisis. <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>The party secretary general made the remark during the swearing-in of the SPLM leaders, citing that President Salva Kiir has tasked the SPLM task force and economic cluster to help the situation.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201cI want to congratulate Comrade Chairman Salva Kiir Mayardit for listening to the voices of our citizens who are crying because the economy is getting difficult,\u201d said Lam.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnd he [Kiir] has authorized a number of action points that must be addressed by the SPLM Economic Task Force and the economic cluster of the government,\u201d he stated.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo, in the next few days, certain changes must happen, and I think you have seen some of it now with the exchange rate coming down, and it will go down more because SPLM has now taken the driver\u2019s seat,\u201d Lam said.<\/p>\n<p>Besides, the Vice President for Economic Cluster, Dr. James Wani Igga, who is also the first deputy Chairman of the SPLM, said, \u201cI would like to tell you that subsided food commodities have arrived in Juba, without any lie.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Yiep Joseph &nbsp; Speaker of the Transitional National Legislative Assembly (TNLA), Jemma Nunu Kumba, has called on the SPLM economic taskforce to help as the economic situation continues to worsen.
