At least four people have been killed and three others injured in fatal revenge clashes between the Cie-Pual and Cie-Khertut sections of Cie-Dumin, in Lankien, the headquarters of Nyirol County.<\/p>\n
Jonglei State Minister of Information, Nyamar Lony Thichot Ngundeng, reported that the violence stemmed from a previous conflict on August 29, 2024, when a member of Cie-Dumin killed someone from Cie-Pual.<\/p>\n
Following the latest outbreak of violence, the commissioner of Nyirol County organized meetings between the two subsections to promote dialogue and de-escalation.<\/p>\n
\u201cThere was somebody that was killed from the side of Cie-Paul the person was killed by a person from cei-Dumin. On Wednesday when the brother of the person who was killed came to town, he saw the brother of the person who killed his brother.<\/p>\n
He shot this individual in the market and that is where the fighting erupted between the two clans,\u201dNgundeng stated.<\/p>\n
She added that the injured are currently receiving medical treatment at the MSF hospital in Lankien.<\/p>\n
The Jonglei State Government has condemned the cycle of revenge killings, urging communities in Nyirol County and across the state to embrace peace.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe call upon the people of Jonglei State to put an end to these acts of violence and to prioritize stability and coexistence,\u201d Ngundeng emphasized.<\/p>\n
