National Election Commission (NEC) has launched a website to promote transparency and accountability in all election-related activities ahead of the 2026 elections.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n The election body unveiled the website, www.nec.gov.ss, on Wednesday, which will ease access to election information.<\/p>\n In his remark, Prof. Abednego Akok Kacuol, chairperson of the National Election Commission said the launch of the Website is part of civic education, adding that the commission would continue to publish vital information for public consumption.<\/p>\n \u201cWe would like you to follow us and be connected to us through this website; any information will be published there for the masses to know, and that is one of the conditions of the election: transparency and effectiveness,\u201d Akok said.<\/p>\n He emphasized that the website would publish information on key electoral preparations, commission decisions, regulations, and other vital information that is within mandates of the commission.<\/p>\n Akok vowed to ensure that the commission works hand in hand with the media to ensure the population is well-informed about elections.<\/p>\n \u201cWe want to be transparent, and we want to cooperate with all the media houses. Whatever they will seek from us, we will provide them,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n He added that unveiling of the website would allow the commission to connect to the outside world and receive feedback that can improve its operation toward democratic election.<\/p>\n On his part, commissioner George Lemi Stans, who also serves as NEC spokesperson, said the website will ensure factual and timely communications on their activities.<\/p>\n \u201cOn behalf of the National Election Commission of the Republic of South Sudan, it is important to have a channel of communication where information is accessible and regularly updated from trustworthy sources,\u201d he said. \u201cThis translates into a better-informed public and citizens who can base their decision and choice on correct, comprehensive, and reliable information,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n \u201cAnd with that, we are glad to launch the website of the National Election Commission, which will serve as the commission\u2019s primary digital platform,\u201d he declared.<\/p>\n Lemi revealed that the NEC website was developed with technical support from the United Nations Mission in the Republic of South Sudan (UNMISS) electoral Affairs division.<\/p>\n He expressed that the website is well protected and will continue to help the public to learn all the activities of the commission.<\/p>\n \u201cThe public can learn more about the commission, its structure, mandate, function, and responsibilities,\u201d he said. \nLemi added that with the website, the public would be able to get clear, credible, factual, and timely communication.<\/p>\n
\n\u201cWe invite members of the media to utilize this platform for regular and important news and updates and to support the work of the commission in raising the awareness of South Sudanese.\u201d He added.<\/p>\n
