{"id":31947,"date":"2024-12-23T12:28:01","date_gmt":"2024-12-23T10:28:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/onecitizendaily.com\/?p=31947"},"modified":"2024-12-23T12:28:01","modified_gmt":"2024-12-23T10:28:01","slug":"south-sudan-premier-league-kicks-off-today","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.onecitizendaily.com\/index.php\/2024\/12\/23\/south-sudan-premier-league-kicks-off-today\/","title":{"rendered":"South Sudan Premier League Kicks off today"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>By Kei Emmanuel Duku<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>South Sudan Premier League kicks off today, Monday, December 23, 2024, at Juba Stadium.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Defending champion, Al-Merreikh FC Bentiu faces last year\u2019s runners-up, Al Malakia FC of Juba in the opening match.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, Kator FC Juba, included in the competition at the last minute, will host Wajuma FC on Tuesday, a day before Christmas, in Juba stadium.<\/p>\n<p>On Christmas Day, Juba Local Football Association representatives and two times South Sudan Cup champions, Jamus FC, will entertain Bentiu City FC, two-time finalists of the South Sudan Cup in the Bentiu Local Football Association.<\/p>\n<p>The inaugural South Sudan Premier League is being sponsored by MTN South Sudan.<\/p>\n<p>Morris Felix, President of the Juba Local Football Association, appealed for greater corporate collaboration and support for sports to ensure the league&#8217;s success.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, James Joseph, a former Bright Star striker, commended the association for initiating the South Sudan Premier League, emphasizing that football is a vital tool for fostering peace, cooperation, and unity among South Sudanese communities. He also stressed the need for increased sponsorship to support football, particularly the participating clubs.<\/p>\n<p>Victor Lawrence Lual, South Sudan Football Association&#8217;s General Secretary, stated that the league is crucial for promoting grassroots talent and strengthening the national team.<\/p>\n<p>All matches will be played at Juba Stadium, according to the organizing committee.<\/p>\n<p>A total of 14 teams will participate in the inaugural six-month competition, which will conclude in June 2025.<br \/>\nThe league was initially scheduled to commence last month but was delayed due to technical reasons.<\/p>\n<p>Week One<\/p>\n<p>1. 23rd December 2024- Al-Merreikh FC Bentiu Vs Al-Malakia FC Juba Juba Stadium 3:00 PM CAT.<br \/>\n2. 24th December, 2024- Kator FC Vs Wajuma FC Juba Stadium- 3:00 PM CAT.<br \/>\n3. 25th December 2024-Jamus FC Juba Vs Bentiu City FC- Juba Stadium- 3:00 PM CAT.<br \/>\n4. 26th December, 2024-Lion Hunters FC Yei &#8211; Vs Young Stars- Torit Juba Stadium 3;00 PM CAT<br \/>\n5. 27th December 2024-Olympic FC Renk Vs Holy Family FC Rumbek -Juba Stadium 3;00 PM CAT<br \/>\n6. 28th December 2024- Koryom FC Bor Vs Salam FC Aweil-Juba Stadium 3;00 PM CAT<br \/>\n7. 29th December 2024- Al-Hilal Wau Vs Nile City FC Yambio-Juba Stadium 3: 00 PM CAT.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Kei Emmanuel Duku &nbsp; South Sudan Premier League kicks off today, Monday, December 23, 2024, at Juba Stadium.
