South Sudan President Salva Kiir in his Christmas message, has called on citizens to embrace the spirit of forgiveness, peace, and unity in the country.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n In the President\u2019s nation address on Tuesday, 24 December 2024, forgiveness and the true spirit of peace are key in the message.<\/p>\n \u201cChristmas is not only a significant day for the Christians around the world but also a moment for all of us to reflect on the shared values of love, peace, and unity,\u201d Kiir said.<\/p>\n The head of state appealed to believers in particular, and the public at large, to use the Christmas festival to forgive one another and embrace peace.<\/p>\n \u201cChristmas is not just about celebration, but also embracing the true spirit of peace, kindness, and forgiveness despite the challenges we have faced this year (2024),\u201d he added.<\/p>\n Kiir reiterated government’s commitment to bringing total peace to the country and urged the citizens to forgive one another to pave a way for peace to prevail.<\/p>\n \u201cThe government is committed to ensuring a peaceful and secure environment, not only during the festive season but throughout the year,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n Drawing from the biblical perspective in the book of Luke 2:14: Glory in the highest heaven, and on earth peace to those on whom his favor rests.<\/p>\n Kiir emphasized that the birth of Christ demands believers and South Sudanese to forgive one another.<\/p>\n President Kiir assured the citizens of the government’s efforts to ensure safety countrywide.<\/p>\n \u201cI want to assure you that this Christmas, your government has prioritized your safety and security, especially for those who may be traveling to the countryside,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n Also, President Salva Kiir, in a 2023 Christmas message, called on the religious leaders and Christians to use the festive season to spread the messages of peace and unity countrywide.<\/p>\n \u201cI implore religious leaders to use this opportunity to pray and spread the message of peace and forgiveness within our communities and neighbours,\u201d said Kiir.<\/p>\n The head of the state admonishes the citizens to embrace the spirit of love, peace, and harmony with one another.<\/p>\n \u201cThere is no higher call for any Christian than upholding the divine principle of forgiveness and reconciliation in the face of hatred and aggression,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n In the statement, the president also urges the security operatives to ensure sober celebration across the country.<\/p>\n \u201cTo our gallant security forces, I say thank you for your commitment to serving our country with great diligence.
