King Charles III of the United Kingdom has appointed Mr. David Ashley as the new ambassador to South Sudan replacing his Majesty Mr. Guy Warrington.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n In a statement, the Foreign Common Wealth & Development Office (FCDO) said that Ambassador Ashley will replace Mr. Warrington who took up his appointment in March 2023.<\/p>\n \u201cMr David Ashley has been appointed His Majesty\u2019s Ambassador to the Republic of South Sudan in succession to Mr Guy Warrington,\u201d partly reads a statement.<\/p>\n \u201cMr Ashley will take up his appointment during January 2025,\u201d added a statement by the foreign and commonwealth office.<\/p>\n Before his appointment to South Sudan, he had served previously as Ambassador of His Majesty to Madagascar and Comoros (non-resident) from 2020 to 2024. From 2018 to 2020, he was FCO, Deputy Head (for Syria and Iraq), Near East Department.<\/p>\n His majesty Ashely was Deputy High Commissioner, Dhaka in 2017 \u2013 2018 and political counsellor in Kabul from 2014 t0 2016.<\/p>\n However, his predecessor Mr. Warrington previously served as the deputy director of East African Humanitarian affairs for the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office, the British ambassador to Mali, and the British High Commissioner in Sierra Leone.<\/p>\n Britain is among the few influential allies of South Sudan.
