A rabies vaccination campaign for dogs has commenced in Aweil. On the first day of the campaign, Monday this week, 45 dogs were successfully vaccinated.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n Samuel Ajiing Uguak, Director General of the Ministry of Animal Resources, urged dog owners to participate in the vaccination drive.<\/p>\n \u201cThe target is 6,500 dogs across the state against rabies. If you have your dog, please bring it to the vaccination facility to get vaccines,\u201d Uguak said.<\/p>\n \u201cWe started the campaign in the areas of Naivasha, Maper Akot and our centre in Aweil town, but the number of people coming with their dogs is very low,\u201d Uguak added.<\/p>\n Following vaccination, a piece of cloth is tied around the dog’s neck to distinguish it from unvaccinated animals. \u201cI have dogs that are useful in my house because they are part of security as they are watchful monitoring the strangers and others. I took three of them for the vaccinations and I paid 9,000 SSP because each dog is charged 3,000 SSP,\u201d Kur Deng emphasized.<\/p>\n According to the Ministry of Animal Resources, the vaccines are a donation from the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations.<\/p>\n The vaccination campaign will continue for 10 days.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" By Deng Athian A rabies vaccination campaign for dogs has commenced in Aweil.
