Medics at Aweil Civil Hospital are raising concerns about shortage of blood groups in the blood bank, as patient admissions requiring transfusions continue to rise.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n Mr. Luka Lual Aleu Jok, the hospital\u2019s health education focal point, highlighted the alarming deficiency of blood supplies and emphasized the pressing need for donations.<\/p>\n He noted that cases of anemia and critical injuries requiring transfusions are becoming increasingly common.<\/p>\n \u201cWe have got a lack of blood in the bank. We appeal to the people in and around Aweil to come and give the blood. In December we asked for blood and blood bank and MSF helped us fill it. Now it is getting low,\u201d said Lual.<\/p>\n \u201cThis season, we have received a lot of cases of emergencies and we require a lot of blood, so kindly turn up and your blood will be tested and if found okay, then will be taken,\u201d he implored.<\/p>\n Lual also mentioned that MSF, which manages certain operations at the Aweil Hospital, plans to organize a large-scale blood donation campaign in the surrounding counties to help replenish the dwindling blood bank.<\/p>\n He urged the public to dismiss persistent rumors and myths suggesting that donating blood weakens individuals or increases their risk of death.<\/p>\n He said such stereotypes can hinder healthcare services and development.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" By Hou Akot Hou Medics at Aweil Civil Hospital are raising concerns about shortage of blood groups in the blood bank, as patient admissions requiring transfusions continue to rise.
