{"id":3325,"date":"2020-02-17T14:48:11","date_gmt":"2020-02-17T14:48:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/onecitizendaily.com\/?p=3325"},"modified":"2020-02-17T14:48:12","modified_gmt":"2020-02-17T14:48:12","slug":"internally-displaced-persons-protest-against-32-states","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.onecitizendaily.com\/index.php\/2020\/02\/17\/internally-displaced-persons-protest-against-32-states\/","title":{"rendered":"Internally Displaced Persons protest against 32 States"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>People\nliving in the Protection of Civilian Sites (<strong>PoCs)<\/strong> in Juba staged a\npeaceful protest to denounce the current 32 States in South Sudan. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On\nWednesday 12th February 2020, thousands of the Internally Displaced Persons <strong>(IDPs)<\/strong>\ncarrying placards and singing songs said that they are &#8220;demanding for the\ncountry&#8217;s return to 10 States and implementation of security arrangements on\nthe upcoming Intergovernmental Authority and Development <strong>IGAD&#8217;s<\/strong>\nExtra-ordinary Summit on the 15th February 2020&#8243;.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In\ntheir open letter to the United Nations&#8217; Special representative to the Secretary\nGeneral David Shearer. The IDPs stated that 10 States are viable for peaceful\ncoexistence between South Sudanese communities. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;Your\nExcellency, allow us to convey our message demanding 10 States and\nimplementation of security arrangements for other foundations of resolution to\nthe conflict in South Sudan&#8221; the letter read. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;Further,\nwe are demanding 10 States because they unite us in our diversity whereby\ndifferent tribes lives peacefully within one State, and their geographical\nboundaries are clear since the independence of Sudan in 1956. And they are the\nonly option when South Sudan seceeded from the north&#8221; the letter added. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The\nletter further stated that the creation of 32 States was one of the the route\ncauses that jeopardized the 2015 peace deal. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;We\nequally understand that 32 States were unilaterally decreed by the President, a\ndecree that was the route cause that jeopardized the 2015 peace deal. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The\nletter stated that&nbsp; the 32 States was not\na genuine call from the civil population, but were unilaterally imposed on\nthem.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>People living in the Protection of Civilian Sites (PoCs) in Juba staged a peaceful protest to denounce the current 32 States in South Sudan.
