President Salva Kiir has called on Information Minister Michael Makuei and his deputy, David Yau Yau, to work together and focus on ending Jonglei-Pibor communal violence.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n President Kiir remarked during the swearing-in ceremony of government officials, which included Deputy Minister of Information David Yau Yau, an influential figure from the Pibor Administrative Area.<\/p>\n David Yau Yau would deputize Michael Makuei, a prominent Bor community leader.<\/p>\n Despite several efforts, the communities in Jonglei State and Pibor Administrative Area continue with attacks, cattle raiding, child abduction, and other things.<\/p>\n As Michael Makuei and David Yau Yau shared the same ministry, President Kiir urged them to cooperate and end the conflict between their communities.<\/p>\n In his speech, President Kiir directed the new appointees to work for peace and unity in the country, urging the region’s leaders and residents to embrace forgiveness and reconciliation.<\/p>\n \u2018\u2018I ask you all to forgive one another and work for the welfare of the Greater Pibor, the Greater Jonglei, and the Republic of South Sudan.\u00a0 I want you to leave from here as reformed people,\u201d President Kiir reiterated in a statement.<\/p>\n On his part, Information Minister Michael Makuei echoed the President’s sentiments, citing that resolving the ongoing conflict in Greater Jonglei is crucial to achieving lasting peace throughout the country.<\/p>\n Kiir’s call for forgiveness and unity underscores the government’s commitment to nurture a stable and prosperous South Sudan.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" By Yiep Joseph President Salva Kiir has called on Information Minister Michael Makuei and his deputy, David Yau Yau, to work together and focus on ending Jonglei-Pibor communal violence.
