Activists have called on the United Nation (UN) to Sanction Chief of Defense Forces (CDF) of Uganda Peoples Defense Forces (UPDF) Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba for fueling conflict in Nasir.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba is the son of President Yoweri Museveni of Uganda also known as MK, by his social media followers.<\/p>\n After confrontation between South Sudan People Defense Forces (SSPDF) and the White Army in Nasir town of Upper Nile, the government confirmed deployment of UPDF.<\/p>\n Although the military agreement is viewed as constitutional, Gen Muhoozi took to social media, disclosing every step including bombing certain areas by the Ugandan forces.<\/p>\n MK\u2019s recent social media posts became inflammatory to the Situation hence some members of the civil society called on UN to take action.<\/p>\n In an interview to this outlet, Ter Manyang, the Executive Director Centre for Peace and Advocacy (CPA) expressed that the inflammatory posts of Gen. Muhoozi can easily incite and fuel conflict.<\/p>\n \u201cWe urge the United Nations to impose sanctions on Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba of Uganda\u201d Ter said.<\/p>\n The activist added that South Sudan and Uganda should engage through diplomatic channels rather than military means that subjected citizens to suffering.<\/p>\n He added that military confrontation of the white army can easily temper with the trust already build by parties to the peace agreement.<\/p>\n He condemned the involvement of Ugandan Forces in bombing the residents in Nasir, adding that it is a violation of human right and urged them to adhere.<\/p>\n \u201c\u201cThe Centre for Peace and Advocacy (CPA) calls upon Uganda to adhere to the principles of international human rights law, international humanitarian law, and the treaties within the East African Community\u201d he said.<\/p>\n “UPDF bombardment of Upper Nile State, particularly in Nasir and Ulang counties, has prompted a brutal response from the Ugandan military in Nasir\u201d he added.<\/p>\n Ater called for thorough investigation into any crimes and ensure that those involved are punished in accordance with international law.<\/p>\n On separate statement, the Executive Director of Community Empower for Progress Organization (CEPO), Edmund Yakani, also called on UN to investigate the conflict in Nasir and ensure that those involved face the law.
