South Sudan National Bureau of Standards (SSNBS) interception and disposal off a consignment of non-compliant yellow peas and maize grains.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n The operation on Wednesday; April 9, 2025, was conduct at Nimule border post in Eastern Equatoria State. Subsequent laboratory testing carried out in accordance with East African Standards (EAS), revealed that the grains failed to meet the necessary quality and safety benchmarks.<\/p>\n The SSNBS reported that the yellow peas and maize grains were found to be physically damaged, contained high levels of impurities and foreign materials, and exhibited a poor overall appearance.<\/p>\n Based on these findings, the Bureau officially classified the entire consignment as non-compliant and deemed it unfit for human consumption.<\/p>\n In adherence to regulatory protocols, the SSNBS oversaw the safe and supervised disposal of the substandard grains in Nimule on Wednesday, April 9, 2025.<\/p>\n The SSNBS emphasized that this action demonstrates its steadfast commitment to safeguarding public health, ensuring food safety, and upholding the integrity of the South Sudanese market.<\/p>\n In its statement, the Bureau urged all importers and stakeholders to strictly comply with both national and regional quality standards.<\/p>\n The SSNBS also called for their cooperation in the Bureau’s ongoing efforts to ensure the quality assurance of goods entering the country.
