{"id":34915,"date":"2025-04-17T12:13:02","date_gmt":"2025-04-17T10:13:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/onecitizendaily.com\/?p=34915"},"modified":"2025-04-17T12:13:02","modified_gmt":"2025-04-17T10:13:02","slug":"acting-governor-encourages-students","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.onecitizendaily.com\/index.php\/2025\/04\/17\/acting-governor-encourages-students\/","title":{"rendered":"Acting governor encourages students"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>By Gaaniko Jackson<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Acting Governor of Western Equatoria State (WES), Daniel Badagbu Rimbasa, has called on students and young people to stay focused on their individual goals and embrace personal growth.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>He urged them not to follow the crowd but to instead chart their own path toward success.<\/p>\n<p>The acting governor made the remarks during a meeting with the Western Equatoria State Students\u2019 Union, operating under the umbrella of the WES Youth Union, to discuss pressing challenges facing students and youth across the state.<\/p>\n<p>During the session, Mathew Mubarak, Chairperson of the WES Youth Union, presented a range of concerns, including the lack of office space and equipment, insufficient youth engagement programs, and the absence of reliable transportation to facilitate the Union\u2019s operations.<\/p>\n<p>He also raised alarm over the growing number of idle youth who are neither in school nor involved in any productive ventures, calling for increased investment in empowerment and engagement programs.<\/p>\n<p>Student leaders further emphasized the challenges faced by those who have completed Senior Four, especially in securing scholarships and job opportunities.<\/p>\n<p>They appealed for stronger support systems to bridge the gap between education and future employment.<\/p>\n<p>In his response, Acting Governor Rimbasa praised the students for their unity, organization, and active civic engagement.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDon\u2019t follow the crowd; instead, set your own vision and goals,\u201d he advised. \u201cChoose friends who build your character and help you grow. Be learners\u2014seek knowledge and inspiration from many sources.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He reminded the youth that unity among young people is a catalyst for meaningful change, adding that leadership is about mentoring the next generation.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs leaders, it is our duty to guide you.
