This comes after the\nOffice of the President on Tuesday said elections would not be held in 2022 as\nexpected; saying calls for early election in 2022 was not justified. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Speaking to No.1 Citizen Daily Newspaper in an exclusive\ninterview Wednesday 24<sup>th<\/sup> March 2021, Puok Both Baluang, the Director\nof Information and Public Relations for SPLM-IO said it was the parties to the\nrevitalized peace agreement to decide on the 2022 elections. \u201cThe issue of\nelection has been mentioned in the revitalized peace agreement that should be\nheld at the end of the transitional period. The decision by the SPLM\u2013IG should\nbe discussed by all parties to the agreement,\u201d he said. Puok dismissed the\nstatement from the office of the President saying what was important right now\nwas the implementation of the agreement. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, Puok hinted that if all parties have genuine will\nto the agreement, they believe they can hold elections on time. \u201cWe believe all\nthe parties to the agreement should discuss this article and evaluate if the\narticle to the agreement is accepted or not,\u201d Puok stressed. Puok warned that\nholding election was not one party\u2019s decision and should not be decided by the\nSPLM-IG. Earlier on, during its national conference held in Juba, SPLM-IO had\ninstructed its members to prepare for the upcoming general elections.
