University of Bahr el Ghazal has announced its indefinite closure and is sending all campus-based students home.<\/p>\n
This decision was made by the university’s management during a meeting held on Friday, May 23, 2025, in response to an ongoing by students over tuition hike.<\/p>\n
In a statement seen by this outlet, Acting Vice Chancellor Prof. Kuel Mauil Jok confirmed the closure, stating that the Dean’s Board convened an emergency meeting to address the strike.<\/p>\n
The meeting, chaired by the Deputy Vice Chancellor for Admin and Finance, resulted in the resolution to close the university indefinitely and require students to vacate their accommodations.<\/p>\n
The university stated that this temporary shutdown is intended to allow the administration to address the persistent challenges it faces.<\/p>\n
It is currently unknown when academic activities will resume.<\/p>\n
The University of Bahr el Ghazal has a history of closures due to strikes, frequently stemming from issues of unpaid salaries.<\/p>\n
