United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS) launched “Peace Begins with Me” campaign on Thursday during commemoration of United Nations Peacekeepers Day in Bor.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n The event featured several cultural dances and artistic performances.<\/p>\n Speaking at the event, Ambassador Geetha Pious, head of the UNMISS field office in Bor, affirmed the mission’s commitment to fostering peace and stability among local communities in Greater Pibor Administrative Area and Jonglei State.<\/p>\n \u201cIt requires a collective effort from every citizen to ensure lasting peace and security in South Sudan. As we launch the ‘Peace Begins with Me’ campaign, it\u2019s important to remember that the responsibility for fostering peace lies with everyone,\u201d she stated.<\/p>\n Ambassador Geetha emphasized that the campaign aims to promote peace throughout the region. She added that UNMISS is dedicated to working alongside state governments to achieve peace and development in Jonglei State.<\/p>\n \u201cWe are also committed to supporting agricultural activities in the region, as peace among all citizens is essential for thriving,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n Meanwhile, Matiop Lueth Atem, a representative of the Jonglei State government, acknowledged UNMISS’s efforts in maintaining peace and stability in South Sudan.<\/p>\n \u201cWe cannot overlook the important role that UNMISS plays.
