About 550 underprivileged local residents in Aweil town, South Sudan’s Northern Bahr El Ghazal state, received a donation of food assistance on Wednesday from the Anglican Church, led by Bishop Wilson Garang Chan.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n One of the beneficiaries, 70-year-old Abuk Garang, an elderly woman who received a food ration, said that 10 individuals were given sacks of sorghum, a gallon of oil, and rice to share.<\/p>\n “I am glad that we got the food rations from Bishop Wilson Garang Chan Awac. He is a great man of God. He considered the plight we are going through, so he sent his wife Tabitha Akuel Ayii to come and deliver the food rations to us, which is a great support as this is a hunger gap,” she revealed.<\/p>\n Ms. Chan appealed to well-wishers to extend such services to people who are very destitute, such as visually impaired individuals, the elderly, and people living with disabilities.<\/p>\n “It would be wise enough if the government also undertook such projects to extend a helping hand to people of this type, as the state is huge, and this has happened to us in Aweil Town. We need it to be done for other people in the counties,” she urged.<\/p>\n Another churchgoer in the same Anglican Church, Garang Deng Bol, said this project has been ongoing as the bishop constructed a school named “Light House,” where food in the form of porridge is provided to orphans.<\/p>\n “This is part of the project that the church has been doing.
