South Sudan Council of Churches (SSCC) has declared 70 days of prayers starting10th, June to 18th, August, this year.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n The Council of Churches in collaboration with intercessors for South Sudan (IFSS), Prayer Network for South Sudan (PN4SS) and South Sudan National Renewal in Christ (SSNRC) have called on all Christians to pray and fast for South Sudan for 70 days.<\/p>\n Under the theme \u201cfulfil your good promises; Oh Lord\u201d citing Jeremiah 29:10 \u2013 11 that \u201cthe called to pray continually but also strategically\u201d, the Council of Churches invites Christians.<\/p>\n In a press release extended to media, the Council of Churches observed that 18th August, 2025, marks 70 years since Sudan in 1955 experienced first war outbreak, Torit Uprising in the present Eastern Equatoria State.<\/p>\n \u201cThis is what the Lord says,\u201d Rt. Rev. Tut Kony Nyang Kon, undersecretary of SSCC, said, quoting Jeremiah 29:10 NIV, that \u201cwhen seventy years are completed for Babylon, I will come to you and fulfill my good promise to bring you back to this place.\u201d<\/p>\n However, the undersecretary noted that during the twenty-one years of protracted civil war and after independence, the region has been yarning for peace.<\/p>\n \u201cThis kind, can come out only by prayers,\u201d Kon noted, referring to prevalence of peace.<\/p>\n The Council of Churches urges that within the 70 days; Christians should commit to prayers for South Sudan to overcome challenges. The prayers are also meant for the country to step to development and prosperity of its citizens as well as institutions.<\/p>\n \u201cPray at home, local church and in all occasions including at all platforms; whenever it is possible.
