Other Political Parties (OPP) leadership has rejected claims by Peter Mayen Majongdit, of representing the coalition.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n Peter Mayen Majongdit, a former Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management had declared his intent to represent the OPP in the upcoming elections.<\/p>\n He also called for dialogue to salvage South Sudan\u2019s peace process.<\/p>\n However, in a press statement on Tuesday, OPP spokesperson, Mayen Jeremiah Turic, condemned Majongdit\u2019s claim, calling it misleading.<\/p>\n Turic clarified that while Majongdit was one of the six signatories of the OPP to the Revitalized Agreement on the Resolution of the Conflict in South Sudan (R-ARCSS), he has since been dismissed by his own party, the People\u2019s Liberal Party (PLP).<\/p>\n \u201cAs a result, he lost his standing and membership within the OPP. He is not a representative of the OPP and has no authority to speak or act on its behalf,\u201d the statement read.<\/p>\n Turic reaffirmed the OPP\u2019s commitment to implementing the R-ARCSS, emphasizing that the peace agreement is the only viable path to achieving South Sudan\u2019s first general elections.<\/p>\n The party called for an urgent review of Chapter Two of the R-ARCSS to expedite the integration of all necessary forces under a unified command, led by one commander-in-chief, ahead of the elections.<\/p>\n The OPP urged the public to remain calm and focused on the implementation of the peace agreement, which remains active and binding.<\/p>\n The party reiterated its commitment to peace, stability, and the full implementation of the R-ARCSS, calling on all stakeholders to unite against disinformation and unauthorized initiatives that could undermine progress toward lasting peace in South Sudan.<\/p>\n OPP is a coalition of political parties that are signatory to the revitalized peace agreement.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" By Lodu William Odiya Other Political Parties (OPP) leadership has rejected claims by Peter Mayen Majongdit, of representing the coalition.
